Stolen Property From Iraq Returned To Jordan

Today June 22, 2008 it was reported that stolen property from Iraq returned to Jordan was from things stolen during looting in Baghdad back in 2003.
Among the things returned by Jordan are gold Iraqi coins, jewelry, and ancient manuscripts. In a news conference given by Jordan's Tourism Minister Maha Khatib, the press was notified of Jordan's generous act. She turned the artifacts over to Iraq's Tourism Minister, Mohammed Abbas al-Oraibi, who was grateful to get the items back.
15,000 items were stolen from the National Museum in Baghdad back in 2003, along with about 32,000 items from archaeological digs in Iraq. Looting was rampant after Iraq was invaded in 2003 and they lost many precious items from the period when Iraq was known as The Cradle Of Civilization.
I remember learning about this cradle of civilization back when I was in 6th grade. It was fascinating and I am glad they are getting their stolen items returned from Jordan.
