Speicher

I have spent time at Speicher. My first night there my company put me in a room that had just been painted with an oil base paint. Then someone started smoking in there. So I went out to the SUV and slept in there for the two nights I was at Speicher. This was in Febuary of 2004.

The next time I went was in April of 2005. This time they had put in some better housing. It was two man rooms.

The one thing I liked about Speicher was the stadium they had there. It looks like it had been a nice soccer stadium at one time. But it looked liked it had been hit by a couple of bombs. Anyway I would walk/run around the track. Then sit in the bleachers and imagine what life must have been like there at one time. Did Saddam ever sit and watch a game being played here?

There were also two big pools there, but they were not being used. They were all torn up. I walked around the facility and imagined what it must have been like at one time. Did Saddam ever swim there?

Anyway I really liked the track. I did not like where the PX was. It was on the other side of the base from where we were at. It was hard to figure out witch bus to get on to get to the PX. One time I waited for an hour for the bus to come.

It was not really my favorite base. But I liked it better than Camp Victory.
