Snacks in Iraq
Snacks in Iraq are something Military personnel and civilians alike love to eat.
Other than packages from home, the biggest source of snack food is the PX on base.
The PX is the Super Wal-Mart of the military base. This is truly one-stop shopping. This is all that the military and civilians in Iraq have. It is the place where they purchase soda, chips, candy, gum, mints, and crackers.
As you can imagine, tasty foods in Iraq go quickly. I have gone for as long as a month over here without any type of soda, chips, or chocolate. It is rough waiting on the PX to restock its merchandise.
Supplies take a long time to get to the bases in Iraq. Insurgents make it difficult to move trucks safely through the country.
An important note about chocolate--once the heat goes up over here, chocolate disappears. It is just too hot to transport it, even in a refrigerated truck.
By the time they get the chocolate off of the truck and into another cooler, it is liquid. That is how very hot it gets here in the Middle East.
Thank you for your visit.
