Russian in Afghanistan
Russian in Afghanistan started when Russia invaded Afghanistan. Afghanistan became known as Russia’s Vietnam. The Soviet war in Afghanistan was a nine-year conflict involving Soviet Union forces supporting the Afghan communist government against the mujahideen resistance. The mujahideen found support from a number of countries including the United States.
The initial Soviet deployment in Afghanistan began on December 24, 1979. The final troop withdrawal began on May 15, 1988, and ended on February 15, 1989. So the Russians pulled out and the mujahideen became known as the Taliban, the same Taliban who were responsible for 9/11.
Every time the United States helps a country gain its independence, it seems, they then attack the United States. Of course, 9/11 happened because the United States did not completely withdraw from the Middle East when the First Gulf War (actually it is the Second Gulf War, but most people call it the First Gulf War) of 2000 was over. This is what Bin Laden claims.
Afghanistan did not become a Communist Country but neither did it gain the independence the United States was hoping for.
Instead it became a radical Islam state which, in my opinion, is worse than Communism. One can reason with a Communist but a radical, of any nature, is beyond reasoning with.
As early as 1919 Russia was giving aid to Afghanistan to help in their war against Britain. After this, Afghan officers were trained in Russia. For more information on this and the wars fought in Afghanistan against Britain go to

In the pictures below are some of the Russian vehicles left behind.

One of the things I noticed was light-skinned Afghanis serving as Afghan police. I often wondered if they were of Russian in Afghanistan origins, but I was not going to ask. Even their hair was lighter, usually being red.
There is nothing one would want the country of Afghanistan for except as a defense position against Russia, China and other countries whom the British feared may try to attack India by marching through Afghanistan. Today this is not a concern.
Russian in Afghanistan was a bad idea. It is highly possible that this invasion helped lead to the downfall of Russia and the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, my own opinion.
So now the United Nations is locked in a struggle with the same people it once helped. And this struggle will continue until several things happen:
1. The opium is completely eliminated-—with this crop eliminated, the Taliban will lose the funds they need to continue fighting.
2. The United Nations floods the country with a million troops.
But we are locked in a struggle that cannot be won as it is currently being fought, especially when the Taliban are using women and children as shields.
Do you notice that every time the United States drops a bomb on insurgents, the people killed are always innocent? The United States is the only country that tries to fight a war in a civil manner.
You cannot fight a civil war with radicals. If you want to win you have to kill them, their family and anyone associated with them. That is what you have to do to win. You have to beat them into the ground until they no longer have the will to fight.
But the United Nations does not have the will to beat them into the ground so this will drag on and on and on until the United Nations pulls out with a warning: “If you attack other countries outside Afghanistan, then know this, we will nuke your country into the ground.” This is the stance that has to take place to stop terrorists.
They say that men are born gay. Well, then it can be also said that men are born terrorists. They are born to kill and that is all they will do their whole life. So cut that life short so their off-spring will not be terrorists. Just a thought.
I often wonder what the Russian in Afghanistan thought when I saw piles and piles of the wrecked hulls of thousands of Russian vehicles. What a waste of money. Every once in a while you will still see one parked beside a road or in a river bed, left where it was blown up years ago.
The only reason I can come up with on why Russia would want Afghanistan to be Communist in the first place would be as a staging area to attack the Middle East to acquire the oil fields.
The Middle Eastern Muslim community ought to be thanking the United States for its help because without it they could be flying the Hammer and Sickle today. This is the only reason to me that makes since for them to want to waste so much money and manpower on Afghanistan.
This article
is very interesting. Basically the United Nations is trying the same strategy the Russian in Afghanistan tried. It did not work for them, and it will not work for the United Nations. They say history repeats itself.
