Prayer for Soldiers
5-13-09
This prayer for soldiers came in from Kim:
Scriptural encouragement for American Troops:Jeremiah 1:18-19 17 Get up and prepare for action. Go out and tell them everything I tell you to say. Do not be afraid of them, or I will make you look foolish in front of them. 18 For see, today I have made you strong like a fortified city that cannot be captured, like an iron pillar or a bronze wall. You will stand against the whole land the kings, officials, priests, and people of Judah (nations). 19 They will fight you, but they will fail. For I am with you, and I will take care of you. I, the Lord, have spoken!
Thank you Kim for these words of encouragement.
Prayer for soldiers and reading the Bible are what will sustain our troops and civilians in harm's way in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Prayer for soldiers will also sustain our families back home. God is with us, holding us up, wanting to know us intimately. It is our job through prayer and reading his Word, the Bible, to draw close to him so he can give us the strength to do what he wants us to do.
Prayer for soldiers and their families are important to us here at Iraq Up Close And Personal. Juanita and I understand the danger of being in harm's way and the fear of having someone you love in Iraq and/or Afghanistan.
We care about you, but more importantly, we serve the living God who cares about you and loves you more than anyone else. He loves you so much that he sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die in your place for your sins.
If you don't know him personally today, you can have a relationship with him. He is ready and willing to forgive you and he wants a personal relationship with you.
Juanita and I want to pray with you. Each day we have prayer for soldiers. Please submit your prayer requests to us through the prayer request form below and we will pray for you.
Many others in our caring community, through this website, will see your requests and pray for your needs as well. You can remain anonymous. God knows who you are and that is all that really matters. May God richly bless you in every way.
David
PS--We want to hear about your praises to the Lord, too!
Prayer for soldiers and their families follow:
Gracious Heavenly Father, we thank you and praise you for this beautiful day. We thank you and praise you for your Son Jesus' birth, life, death and resurrection. We praise you for peace and the abundant life we have through your Son Jesus.
Father we ask this day that you put a shield of protection around each military and civilian person so that they may survive the day and night in a hostile country that is full of people trying to take away the freedom that we as Americans enjoy.
We pray that you keep all American soldiers and their families safe from all harm, Father. We pray that the only people killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are those bent on killing others out of ignorance of what your love is truly about. May the harm they wish to inflict on others be visited on them. May their bombs blow them up. May the traps they lay be sprung upon them.
Father, we pray for the families back home. We ask that you keep each family safe and healthy. We pray for the single mom or dad trying to keep the family going.
We pray for strength, wisdom and courage for them as they work, fix meals, clean the house, wash clothes, shuffle the children from one project to another, discipline, pay the bills, keep the house in good repair, keep the vehicles running and the multiple tasks that have to be accomplished to keep things going.
Father, we pray that there would be no adultery or unfaithfulness for those who are married. We ask that you keep at bay those who seek to destroy a marriage through infidelity.
Father, we pray for the children who are missing a parent. We pray that during this time the children would be on their best behavior. We pray that the children would remember their absent parent in a prayer each day.
For the families who have lost a loved one, we pray that you would comfort them. There are no words that can be said when a loved one has given their life for their country and for their family's future security. There is nothing to fill the void. All we can ask is that your peace would rest upon them in their time of dismay.
We pray that this war will come to an end. An end that will see freedom rule in Iraq and Afghanistan. We thank you and praise you for the answer to our prayers. We ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
Encouraging Psalm
Psalm 1 (NIV):
1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
Let God direct your path. We do not know how long our country will be in Iraq. Whether or not we got in for the right reasons or because of wrong intelligence, does not matter. We are there.
Prayer for soldiers changes things. I have seen this on the battlefield.
I have had soldiers and civilians show and tell me of their narrow escapes:
"This is where the RPG passed thru and did not explode until it landed outside the vehicle." No one hurt.
"This is where the shrapnel went thru the window and missed me by an inch." No one hurt.
"This is where the shrapnel went thru the door in three places and missed me by 1/2 an inch." No one hurt.
"This is where the mortar round landed and knocked me off my feet as shrapnel followed. See where it hit. I was standing there." No one hurt.
"This is where the rocket landed. I was standing here just two feet away. It failed to explode." No one hurt.
"The roads are condition "Black" meaning high danger. We accomplished our mission." No attack and no one hurt.
"I was on the verge of committing adultery with the justification that I am out here in the heat and could die any day, when the Holy Spirit touched me. I got away from the girl immediately."
"A friend of my husband was making passes at me, while my husband was in Iraq. I almost gave in, but then someone, somewhere must have prayed for me because the handsome man all of a sudden turned ugly. I got away from him."
I have many more I can tell.
Prayer for soldiers works.
Prayer for troops works.
Prayer for soldiers must continue everyday. Continue to pray for their families. It works.
Dear Lord,
As our Nation continues to free people from oppression, we ask that you would be with our Military personel as they make the most of tough situations.
We ask Father that you bring the chapters of Iraq and Afghanistan to a close so that America will stop shedding its blood for those who do not want to be free from oppression.
Lord we pray for this group of people who go to the funerals of our deceased soldiers and bad mouths them and America. We ask Father that you silence them. They are preaching a message of hate. We know that you love all people. A message of love would reach more people than this message of hate that they have decieved themselves into believing is from you.
We ask that you keep our soldiers safe. Put a hedge of protection about them. We ask that you be with their families. Protect them from the evil that tries to destroy them in the absence of their spouse.
Lord we pray for President Obama and this administration. Help them to do what is right according to your Word.
Thank you for hearing our prayer for soldiers. Aman.
