Poppy Eradication Force Poem

I have posted a poem on this page written by a person I use to work with on the Poppy Eradication Force in Afghanistan.

Poem of PEF Team

You may have come and go But only as PEF knows What you and I been through It wasn't easy but it was fun too.

It's been awhile since PEF is gone Wherever you and others are The time we shared in Ghan, The best experience we vowed

People like us are unusual, As no one else would dare Deploying to Helmand or Uruzghan Even the Faizabad to Kandahar.

If many say it’s impossible Convoying thousands of people Moving hundred kilometers of trucks From Kabul to all the country sides.

Road was rough, vehicle was fuck’d It was snowing, it was raining Mortars here, bombs are near We get attacked front and back.

In the desert, we set our tents No shower and no entertainment. Others are clearing the perimeter While RA is preparing the cold dinner

The next morning is the real mission Entering dangerous places like Natali Cutting many hectares of field poppies Farmers are angry and terrorists set the IED’s.

We fought alongside with Diablo in the air Withdrew if innocents were approaching. Poppy Eradication Force is what we do Not to eliminate the civilians too.

Back in base, we recollect what we did And carefully planned the next field operation. Then, rest in the cots, sleep even if it’s cold And landing rockets are the jokes told.

The Cutting Season of January to June It was the toughest and the greatest. We got to know each others, Just like as brothers and sisters.

It was a love and hate relationships But now we can’t help, Not to missed one another Wish we could work together again.

You may think I didn’t like you But I do have a lot of respect for you, I am breathing because of you, I am thankful I’ve worked with you.

They said we were only lucky, The mission ended with no injuries. But we just proudly response, That's because we are professionals!
