Photos From Afghanistan
Photos from Afghanistan are posted here to show you how clean and beautiful it is. Shortly after I arrived, I went on a little "sight-seeing" camping trip. It was very interesting and I learned a lot.

This was the first time I have been in one of these. It has a lot of space inside as you can tell from the picture of me sitting in one. You will notice that I am wearing a lot of stuff--there is the M-4 rifle with 150 rounds of ammo. Then I have an M-9 pistol with 225 rounds of ammo. I shot sharpshooter with the rifle and expert with the pistol so I was pretty proud of myself! As we flew we passed a lot of mountain peaks. We were high but they were higher. Unfortunately I could not take any pictures out of the helicopter. But that did not stop me from taking some when we landed.

We landed at our camp where I met up with my team and stowed my gear away in my tent. It was cozy enough for one person.
It was chow time so I went to get a bite to eat. They were cooking under primitive conditions, but they did a good job.
Then I went to the Operations tent and learned how to work the radios. This was a good thing because later that evening one of our vehicles had an accident and I had to call in for the Medivac since those not at the scene rushed to the scene. The truck was totaled but every one got out with minor injuries. I cannot give the details or a picture surrounding the accident. But here I am in the Operations tent.

Later that night I took a shower--it was primitive but it was not the worst shower stall I have ever used. When I was in the Army in Korea I would put a five gallon container of water by the heater in the winter time so it could heat up all day. By evening it was nice and toasty. We had a canvas type bucket we would pour the water into. The water could be turned on and off by turning the shower head. Then I would strip and quickly take a shower. I had to include the photo below in my photos from Afghanistan collection. Check out this billboard in the middle of nowhere and note the background.

For contrast, here is a field out in the country. Photos from Afghanistan show it is clean and beautiful with a lot of mountains, streams, and fields. Hope you enjoy them.

Thank you for your visit.
