Only Made in America
This page talks about how to restore America by buying products that are Only Made in America.
September 4th, 2011
I woke up this morning at 3 am. I am not sure why but my mind was thinking about the plight that America is in.
And then the answer came to me.
It was simple enough.
How do we get America back to work?
Some of you will get upset by the following. Too bad. I do not make any apologies.
This seems to be the riddle that has our politicians baffled.
Let’s start with the politicians.
We need to understand that our politicians do not care about us. Why should they? They have a job and in many cases, even when voted out of office, they will continue to receive a fat retirement check, medical benefits and I am sure, other goodies that I am not aware of.
So there is no desire for politicians to fix the problems of America. They are simply not affected by them. When was the last time you heard of a politician being foreclosed on?
When was the last time you heard of one of them having to live on the streets or going hungry. Look at how fat some of our politicians are. Some of them can hardly move.
So the politicians will not fix the American economy.
But they are more than happy to sacrifice American blood and money to try to fix other countries.
Trillions have been spent on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in the name of National Security.
In effect, the term “National Security” is a contradiction. You and I are the best ones to resolve issues of national security.
What? If we pay attention to what is happening around us. If we question, what is going on, when we see something that does not look right. If we just get involved then we are the best defense for preventing attacks on our country.
How?
Well, when a person wants to learn how to fly a plane but not take off and land, then red flags ought to go off in our mind telling us that something is wrong with this picture. We should question it.
How?
When an individual walks into a gun shop and starts asking questions on how to use an enormous amount of gunpowder, then bells should start going off as they did for the gun dealer in Texas who notified local officials.
Who then checked into this and found out someone was planning on killing a lot of people. Pay attention to the signs. They are almost always there.
National Security is a term that politicians like to use to justify stupid decisions and spend billions of dollars needlessly. We could debate for years on whether the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq was justified. But this is not the issue now.
The issue now is why do we continue to spend American blood and money on countries that do not want to accept the privilege of Freedom? We gave them a chance but they have refused to stand up and take the reins for their own destiny.
And now we have all these countries overthrowing their leadership and they want one thing from the US.
What is it?
Is it our advice on how to create a democratic society?
No!
They want us to give them money so they can create governments that will probably be as corrupt as the one they replaced.
But our politicians will not stop the flow of money to these bottomless and ungrateful pits of human failure and corruption.
We spend billions trying to feed other countries of the World because many of these would rather fight each other then learn how to compromise and get along.
The United States of America is the most giving and compassionate country in the World.
We hate to see people, especially children, suffer. So we jumped to the aid of anyone who needs it.
The US has had a series of disasters. Has anyone offered to send us any aid? No! But they have their hands out waiting for a handout from us when they hurt their toe.
What I am about to say is going to be cruel and hard to say. It will be hard for you as an American to accept because of our compassionate, instinctive desire to help people.
We will just use Somalia as an example since there are many refugee camps out there.
In short Somalia has had this civil war going on for years. It has sapped the strength and vitality of the country to the point that it cannot care of its people. Neither side in the civil war has the means to care for the people it has enslaved during this civil war.
It is this constant fighting that has depleted the food source of this country, not the drought they have been suffering. The drought is only two years old. Any country should be able to withstand a drought of several years. This war has been going on since 1991. That is twenty years.
The US has sent over 500,000 million in aid to refugees from Somalia this year so far.
Do you know that one of the first things that the US did after raising the debt limit was?
No?
We sent another $100,000 million dollars to aid organizations to help Somalian refugees.
According to the news last week, one in six American children goes to bed hungry at night or is living in poverty--something like this.
I would like to ask why are we helping Somalia’s children when we cannot take care of our own?
These children we are helping will grow up and join one of the sides in the civil war. So our money is being spent to fuel a civil war.
In effect what we are doing is probably more of a disfavor to the children. We feed them enough food to survive so they can reproduce more children that are born into poverty and civil war.
If we sit back, do nothing and let them starve to death, then the fuel for the civil war will run out and hopefully those left will be able to create a new, peaceful and productive society.
Because of our aid to this country and others like it, we have prolonged the agony and suffering of these people.
Drought and the famine that usually follows, is Nature’s way of taking care of itself.
If we interfere, we may help in the short run, but in the long run, we are actually causing more damage.
To turn the other way is hard for us to do, unless it involves our own. We seem to be able to say no to our homeless, starving and hurting people a lot easier than we do to other people in other countries.
Why is this?
Because somewhere and somehow, bundles of this money that is being spent is getting back to our politicians to line their pockets. All of them benefit somehow.
I wonder just how much of the $500,000,000 sent was actually used to help the starving? How many administrators were paid along the way? How much were they paid for their non-profit work?
Let’s continue on with religion.
The Christian people say we have strayed from God and are being punished for this.
The number of "sinners" involved in the issues that Christians claim, has caused God to turn his back on this country are miniscule compared to the number of Christians who have stoned, cold hearts.
I have been in many churches where I have seen these Christians at work.
The "sinner", driven to his knees by addiction, financial ruin, marital and family problems, comes to the mighty church. He goes down to the alter to pray.
The pastor or some other “loving” Christian prays with him as he shares his heart.
Then something startling happens.
The Christian prays to God, “Lord help this man. Provide for him,” and other such nonsense while never really lifting a finger to help.
Many Christians have forgotten that they are not in judging business. Not even Jesus is in the judging business. That is for God alone.
The Christians' heart are so stoned cold that they do not realize that Jesus tells them, “If you have the ability to help, you are required to help.”
I will tell you a story.
I lost my job and it was taking a while to get a new one. One Christian lady in the church told me one Sunday that “God has a plan.”
I replied, “Yes, He does. It is called brother and sisters in the Lord.”
She huffed and walked away. Never spoke to me again.
Now she does not know it because she does not talk about it, but we happen to know she has money. The family made millions in the telecommunications industry.
I find that this seems to be an interesting summary.
The rich think the poor are stupid. We are not stupid as they think.
She acts poor and is always saying she is broke, even though she has a good job. (how many of us can afford a month long vacation in the mountains of Colorado?)
She has the ability to help, but does not.
The harshest things Jesus had to say was to the “Religious People.”
Some denominations have more resources than many European countries, but many of their people live in poverty.
So the church might be able to help, but it isn’t going too.
It is too busy judging people and praying for the Rapture.
So our two biggest organizations cannot and will not fix America. They cannot resolve the financial crisis and put people back to work.
So how do you and I get ourselves and our Country back to work?
The answer is simple: We need to start buy more products made in America.
Yes.
The unemployment rate can be fixed by the United States people buying only those products made in American or at least 50% or more of it made in America.
Corporations took their jobs overseas because they get the product made cheaper but sell it for the same price as if it was made in America.
I walked through Wal-Mart this morning looking at items. At least 90 percent of what I saw was made in China and other countries.
Even Japanese products were being made in other countries.
But from what I saw, Americans could make the same product for a few more dollars. Really, does a corporation need to make a 75% net profit? Can't they get buy on 30%?
Sure they can but making money is the name of the game.
We cannot wait for Congress to pass legislation to get the jobs back. We have to act on our own. We have to start buying American as much as we can.
From what I saw the American made item was the same price as its contemporary made in China. In a few cases it might have been a few more cents.
Let's go ahead and pay the few more cents and start buying American.
Keep in mind that the following tags do not necessarily mean the product was made in America:
"Assembled in the US"
"Packaged for Company X (US brand name)"
"Manufactured for Company X (US brand name)"
What about high gas prices?
What if we could all cut back our driving. Walk more. Take the bus. If we could somehow stop using our vehicles for a week, we would cause the price to drop.
These are two simple things we could do ourselves without Congress. They do not care. They have a job.

The President of Starbucks, Howard Schultz had some of the same thoughts about bringing jobs back to America.
We differ though in that he thinks Congress needs to work on this.
But I say as Americans, we can start now. Look for the "Made in America" tag and buy it when possible. It would be a start.
