Map Of Balad Iraq
Map of Balad Iraq-- It is important to remember that maps of some locations are hard to come by. The reason for this is the military does not want insurgents to get any information that might help them bomb a base or city. One can go to Google Earth or Windows live search maps and get some nice photos of the area. The map of Balad looking from Google Earth shows a lot of green vegetation. There is also the Tigris River flowing by it. The Iraqi farmers use the river to irrigate their crops. Iraqis do not plant large plots of land like we do in the United States. Their plots tend to be small depending on what is being planted and its ownership. Another interesting thing to see is that as you drive through the streets there are animals in the back yards. Also people would be herding flocks of goats or sheep. You will pass an occasional donkey or camel, with most of these animals being kept in the yards at night. As you might guess, other than a palm tree, there is no vegetation in the yard. One thing the map of Balad Iraq does not show is the narrow streets throughout Balad. We drove our trucks down one once because the main road had an IED on it. As we did, we had to keep stopping to move power lines so we would not knock them down. Hundreds of children came running from the houses. The pictures I was looking at were taken in 2003. So many changes have happened since then. But with Google Earth you get an idea of what the place looks like, sort of. Windows Live gives a view from a mile up. So there is not much to see. Its maps are only a few years old so they reveal more than the military wants anyone to know about the area.Iraq is full of history. Someday, hopefully, there will be peace and we can actually go there and tour. Of course, it will be some time before they have the nice hotels and restaurants we Americans enjoy. Finally,
Map of Iraq
is not just a map of Balad Iraq but of all the bases in Iraq. The initials FOB stand for Forward Operating Base—these bases usually just have the basic of life to get by—no thrills, just lots of incoming.
