Map Of Baghdad Iraq
A map of Baghdad Iraq can be purchased from
National Geographic.com.
You can also go to MSN Live Search Maps and get a view from above Baghdad. This is fun to do.
Google Earth will give you a good view, in some cases, although the resolution is not very good. This is so insurgents cannot get a good view and try to blow something up.
Burst Net.com
also has a map of Baghdad Iraq if you just want to take a look without buying a map.
There is a lot of history in Iraq and once the war is over and tourism opens up, people will be able to fly into the Baghdad International Airport. They will be able to hire local tour guides to take them to various sites of interest. When this happens, a better map of Baghdad Iraq will be available.
Baghdad is the capitol of Iraq and sits almost in the middle of the country. All major roads go through Baghdad, which means that Baghdad is a major hub for military traffic. This helps make Baghdad a dangerous place.
Baghdad and Iraq in general, have a lot of palaces that Saddam built. Some were damaged in the wars but slowly they are being restored.
Below is video of Al-Faw in Baghdad that will someday be included in a map. Be sure that you see the splendor that Saddam Hussein lived in while his people lived in bland squalor. His people's taxes paid for his lavish lifestyle. Saddam had palaces all over the country. Really, how many palaces does one need in a tiny country like Iraq?
As you look at these palaces keep in mind that while Saddam lived in riches, a majority of his people lived in poverty of a nature that is hard to describe.
Anyway until the conflict ends, getting a good street map of Baghdad will be impossible due to the security risk.
I flew over Baghdad once in a helicopter. It was really a very depressing place to see from the sky. About the only thing interesting were all of the beautiful palm tress.
One thing I did notice was how the land was divided up into various sized plots for gardening. That was exciting to me since I love to garden.
