Live Together In Iraq As Civilian Contractors

by Melissa (not my real name)
(some where in Iraq)

My spouse and I live together in Iraq as civilian contractors on one of the bases. I am not going to say where or who I am because the military has rules. They have decided that if single people cannot fraternize then my husband and I cannot live together since it is not fair to the others who are not having "sex" or companionship with members of the opposite sex.

My company sees it differently and allows us to stay together. We have two rooms that have been joined together. One room has a queen size bed in it and the other room has a regular bed. In the event of a 2am health and welfare by the military, I can return back to my own room through a locking door that separates the rooms. I really get upset about the early morning raids. If the military spent as much time harrassing the enemy as it does us, then the Iraq war would be over. But then my husband and I would not have our good jobs. Viva America.
