Large Map of Afghanistan

For a large map of Afghanistan, click here.

This site has a nice spread of maps showing Afghanistan in various stages to include a breakdown by province.

This map site also talks about opium trade, military bases, and has some city maps of Afghanistan.

For information on what you need to know while in Afghanistan go to this travel portal.

This site has a lot of up-to-date information about the security and safety of Afghanistan. It also has a list of books about Afghanistan that look interesting.

One of the things that I do know about Afghanistan is you will need a Visa before you get there. Make sure you have this because the other thing I do know is that you do not want to get stuck in Afghanistan for any reason.

If you plan on traveling around Afghanistan you will need a guide and security. I know that some reporters have gone in and traveled around without incident but the situation is deteriorating. As insurgents have lost ground in Iraq they have returned to Afghanistan.

But with the influx of troops into Afghanistan and the reduction in Iraq, it means they will go back to Iraq. Unless the nations of the world are willing to put one million troops in each country simultaneously, there will be no end to the violence.

The United States pulling out of Iraq is a mistake. You heard it here first.

You can also go to this link which is a satellite view of Afghanistan.

Click here for a General Map of Afghanistan and how it sits compared to the rest of the Middle East. It does not show a whole lot because there is not a whole lot to see of Afghanistan.

It is just a vast land with a lot of nothing which makes it a good safe haven for insurgents.

You can also download Google Earth and get some aerial views as well. You can even look up your own address if you want and actually see your house. Google has a lot of pictures you can look at. Just scroll down until the blue boxes show up. Each box is a picture and explanation. Play with it to find what you are looking for. Go to Home Page from Large Map of Afghanistan.
