John McCain AKA John Mcain

John Mcain as some are spelling it and Barack Obama are the Presidential candidates for 2008. Are they the best people for the job? I do not think so. I have tried to remain neutral in my web site, or as much as possible concerning the upcoming election.

I sort of hoped that Condoleezza Rice would be on the ticket this year.

Where are the brightest and the best? Well, they are making millions of dollars a year running corporations. Why would they want to give up their current job to take on a job where no one is ever happy with your decisions?

So now we have to decide who is the best choice between John McCain aka John Mcain and Barack Obama. (Let me point out that reports are showing a lot of folks are spelling McCain's last name Mcain so that is why I am putting the "aka John Mcain" in my article--this way, they will find this page as well as those who are spelling the last name correctly.)

What disqualifies Barack Obama for me? There are two things. His lack of respect for the American flag. I am sure you have seen pictures of him not rendering proper respect to the American flag. To me disrespecting our flag means you dishonor those who have made and continue to make freedom possible in our country.

The other thing is his association with Rev. Wright, who hates what America stands for, a person who can only see the bad in our country. Barack Obama disowned Rev. Wright when the hate factor was brought to light because he is running for president.

Sorry, for me this was too late. He should never have been involved with someone who hates America. But not only was he involved with Rev. Wright, he called Rev. Wright his mentor. Do we really want someone running the United States of America whose mentor stands for hate? I do not.

Why will I vote for John McCain aka John Mcain? He is a veteran and so am I. This is important to me since Veterans are a brother hood. John McCain aka John Mcain has stood the test of time.

John McCain respects the United States Flag. And when it would have been easier to disown his country for preferential treatment, he chose to go through the torture for the United States of America.

Each candidate states that they will do this and the other in office. They each have their own agenda they would like to do. But in all honesty, their hands will be tied by the Congress. Congress will control what they do.

It is interesting that the American public seems to be punishing John McCain aka John Mcain for the current financial crisis. Because of this, they are shying away from him as President. But is it really McCain’s Republicans who are fault?

Let me see if I can piece together what I have read and watched on TV over the past few weeks. Personally I am against the “Bail Out.” I am concerned that both McCain and Obama voted for it. This yes vote was truly against the will of the majority of Americans, at least according to all the poles I read.

When Bill Clinton was President, he thought it would be nice for more people to buy a home. But in order for more people to buy homes, the financial standards had to be lowered. In short, people who did not own a home because they were a high risk were given the opportunity to own one.

And to entice those who knew better, they offered low interest rates that would balloon later. But the economy was doing well. There was every belief that tomorrow when the balloon was inflated, there would be enough money to keep it inflated.

But there was not enough money to inflate the balloon. Why? Was it because of what John McCain aka John Mcain did? No. It was something that George Bush Senior (41) started and Bill Clinton saw through completion, that being NAFTA or the North American Free Trade Agreement.

I was against it then and I am still against it now. The gist of NAFTA was to allow free trade with no restrictions between the United States and its neighbors. It seemed we were willing to allow other countries to ship into our country with low tariffs but our neighbors wanted to charge us high tariffs for taking our product to their country.

The tariffs were eliminated and company A does a cost study and finds out that it can make its product cheaper south of the border and then bring them back into the United States to sell at the same price, increasing its profit margin by 80%.

Company A makes millions even though it had to lay off a labor force of 2000 in the United States. No big deal, right? It is only 2000 people. They should be able to find a new job quickly.

Company A is at the country club and talks to company B. Company B wants to know how company A’s profit margin jumped 80%. So company A shares his secret with company B.

Company B then moves south of the border. They lay off a force of 4,000 people. No big deal, right? They should be able to find new jobs quickly.

But then companies C through Z find out about this secret and move their jobs south of the border. Now, 200,000 people have lost their jobs. The products that companies A-Z are having made elsewhere and bring back into the United States are no longer being purchased because the people who were buying the products are now without a job since the economy could not absorb the 200,000 layoffs. These layoffs affect others who in turn get laid off which means others get laid off and before long the economy stumbles.

So in the beginning it looked great. Companies were making lots of money and consumers were getting good products for a cheap price. It was win-win for a while.

Now those who took out the home loans find themselves unable to pay for them because their jobs have been shipped off to another country where the products they were producing could be made cheaper. Then when the house payments ballooned those just barely hanging on, drowned. Then we ended up with the current financial mess.

But it does not stop here. With the loss of jobs comes the loss of sales tax revenue. This, in turn, causes two things to happen. Taxes go up to cover the short fall and more people get laid off so the company can pay the extra taxes.

So is this the fault of John McCain aka John Mcain? Is it the fault of Republicans? Is it the fault of Democrats? Not really.

It is our own fault for thinking we could have everything and not have to pay anything for it. It is the fault of greedy company CEO's. It is the fault of stockholders wanting high and quick returns on their money. It is the fault of the American people for wanting cheap stuff.

So how do we fix the current mess? It is easy. Charge the companies who are exporting into the United States high tariffs. Make them so high that the company has to bring the jobs back to America in order to make a profit. The profit margin may not be as high, but it will be a profit and will get America back to work.

You may not realize it, but when you call customer service for certain companies, you are actually talking to someone in another country. Many companies are using India’s people for this. It is cheap. The call is cheap. Add a tariff for each call placed out of the United States for these customer service calls. Make the tariff high enough so that the companies bring back those customer service jobs to America.

It pained me to see John McCain aka John Mcain lose the election.
