Job Listings For Iraq

Job listings for Iraq, and job listings for Afghanistan as well, are available at Military Hire. You will need to register for their site. And you should be prior military. You will be able to post your resume and other things. It is a very good site.

02-23-10 I was just on the militaryhire.com today and there are a lot of new posting for jobs in Iraq especially for Linguist. Even fluor has a lot of posting under the LogCap III contract.

I have gotten leads off of it for both of my jobs in Iraq and Afghanistan.

An important factor when searching for a job is to make sure your resume has keywords from the job announcement in it. Many times a computer scans the resume and if it does not pick up any key words then your resume is filed probably never to be looked at again.

Let’s use the following for example when making your resume for job listings for Iraq and Afghanistan:

Routine maintenance is required on a continuing basis for container camps and other facilities throughout Iraq, including containers, water supplies, sewage systems, and diesel generator/electrical distribution systems.

As such, operations and maintenance specialists are required at forward support team locations within each major region, to provide routine maintenance in coordination with forward-deployed logistics specialists and vehicle mechanics.

Duties and Responsibilities

•May be required to perform handyman work including, but not limited to carpentry, painting, miscellaneous electrical work, minor plumbing repairs, insulation work, roof repair, door and window repairs and replacement siding work, and minor concrete and masonry work, maintaining generator diesel engine service schedule and performing basic diesel engine maintenance services.

•Maintains a neat and safe work-site.

•Keeps proper paperwork on working hours and material purchases.

•May be required to maintain a company vehicle in a safe clean condition.

•Oversees sub-contractors/local workers working on the job when subcontractors/local workers are required.

•Informs the logistics office of any change orders on the job.

•Conducts final walk-through with client and develops a list of open items which are not completed.

•Ability to relate to staff at all levels.

•Excellent spoken and written communication skills.

•Ability to plan ahead and manage time.

•Negotiating and influencing skills.

•Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts / agreements, blue prints, procedure manuals, and estimates.

•Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, co-workers, suppliers, or subcontractors.

Required Skills

•Ability to present information and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and subcontractors.

•Ability to solve practical problems and challenges where only limited standardization / resources exist.

•Ability to successfully communicate those solutions to the requester and fellow workers.

•Ability to use and operate all basic carpentry hand and power tools. Employee must have a valid operators permit and the ability to safely drive a company vehicle.

•The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 55 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. of products and materials.

•The employee is frequently required to crawl, bend and stoop.

The above are keywords for job listings for Iraq. They need to be in your resume in order for the computer to pick them up and send your resume to a potential recruiter.

Job listings for Iraq seem to be plentiful but capable warm bodies and lots of them are needed. There is a lot of turnover since the people who get hired are working far from home in a war zone. They get scared and nervous hearing those bombs going off.

When the recruiter calls and asks, “Can you be ready to go in two weeks?”, your answer had better be yes. Do not say, “Let me get back to you on that.” If you do, you will have missed your chance for they have filed your resume and gone on to the next person. You may have their phone number to call back, but oddly enough, you will not be able to get in touch with them. You get one shot. Take it while you can.
