Iraqi Location

Iraqi location is what everyone wants to know as soon as they hear they are going to Iraq. There are so many bases in Iraq to be sent to. Of course, the person going does not get to choose. The United States military or the civilian contractor company decides that.

For detailed information about certain bases, got to the index tab. The bases I have information on or have been too are listed by base.

I have visited quite a few military bases in Iraq up close and personal. I spent 18 months in Baqubah at Camp Warhorse.

It was a very dangerous place while I was there with a lot going on but the friends I made there are good ones. I did warehouse work for KBR. I had a staff of Iraqi workers in the warehouse and we got along great.

I spent a year and a half in the Anbar Province at Al Asad Air Base.

This was really a great place to be.

I got to set up a hardware store for my company, selling all sorts of things from air conditioning units to furniture to major appliances to barbecues to charcoal and the list goes on and on.

I enjoyed that store. Again, I hired some locals, along with workers from other countries in the Middle East and we got along very well.

There are many cities in Iraq where you can be stationed.

TQ or Camp Taqaddum was the least favorite Iraqi location that I lived at. I was there for a few months, trying to clean up a project that was running behind and then was pulled by the military. This base had no fast food. What a ripoff. The only thing I like about this base is the beautiful lake there.

Camp Danger is up in Tikrit, which was Saddam's hometown. I had to go up on business with a military convoy from Baqubah. On the way, we had an adventure in Balad.

Here is some information on maps of Balad.

Camp Dreamland and Camp Fallujah are the military bases near Fallujah, where Sunni insurgency is rampant.

Camp Liberty is in the Iraqi location of Baghdad, near Baghdad International Airport.

And speaking of the airport, did you know that Iraq has its own Airline? Camp Victory is also located in Baghdad. Here, there is a man-made lake that our troops are allowed to fish in. This is great recreation for our troops and really builds up morale.

We get lots of requests for maps of Baghdad.

Camp Taji is close to Baghdad but far enough away so that the insurgents are not constantly attacking.

For civilians and military personnel, there are some church services on the bases. Some have military chaplains and others are manned by civilian pastors or just civilian Christians who feel led to bring a message.

Thank you for your visit.
