Iraq Security Jobs
Iraq security jobs are abundant now, both on and off of military bases here. Even when the United States Military starts to pull out, Iraq security jobs will still be in high demand, but not only in Iraq. Afghanistan is another hot spot for security jobs. This page does not list any jobs. You can go to

for a list of companies hiring for Middle East openings. Many of these security companies are American and British, but some are not. These companies provide security for civilian contractors, United States diplomats, and United States Military bases in Iraq. One of the companies we have been hearing a lot about lately is Blackwater USA. On September 16, 2007, there was an incident with some Blackwater guards in Baghdad. Thirteen civilians were killed for opening fire on the Blackwater guards. Naturally, the Blackwater guards returned fire. Who wouldn't have? What did those "civilians" expect? They are security guards--protecting themselves and those they are guarding is what they are supposed to do. That is why they have weapons.
We sometimes have convoys with up to 100 trucks as in the photo below.

I have lived in Iraq for the better part of 4 years now and have been in the midst of attacks. I have no trouble believing that the Blackwater guards were fired upon first. This is a scary place. People die everyday. Here is a tip for civilians who fire on our American troops and security guards in Iraq--If you don't want to be shot, don't shoot at us! Iraq security jobs are dangerous and are not for the faint of heart. These employees have people to protect, not to mention their own lives. So far, in 2007, there have been 56 shootings involving Blackwater Iraq security jobs.
Instead of coming down on this company, we should be congratulating them for doing what they are paid to do, protect those who pay for their services. But now with all of the negative publicity, the State Department has gotten involved. Condoleeza Rice has ordered video cameras to be mounted in all Blackwater vehicles. Federal agents will now escort Blackwater guards on convoys. Many more US Diplomatic Security agents are on their way to Iraq for this very purpose. Radio communications between diplomatic convoys and the US embassy in Iraq will now be recorded. Another thing. On October 5, 2007, The US House of Representatives passed some legislation putting all civilian contractors now in Iraq under United States criminal statutes. This now goes to the Senate. There are two other companies providing armed protection for diplomats. They are DynCorp and Triple Canopy but they are not being scrutinized at this time. There are many other companies providing other types of security jobs as well. The 3 named above guard US diplomats only.
