I went to several places in Kuwait, Iraq, Dubai and Bahrain. I was scheduled to go to Afghanistan but my company decided to back out at the last minute. In Iraq I went to Al Asad. There I was running the SMS hardware store. While at Al Asad I was also the site manager for a while. This was an exciting challenge working with different groups of people. From Al Asad I spent one month in Kuwait working at the home office. Then I was sent on a special mission to TQ for our company. While there I recovered one of our cranes that had been broke down for awhile. The Army picked it up and moved it back to Al Asad for us. Also at TQ I recovered about $300,000 worth of company materials and equipment. This equipment and supplies were also sent to TQ. The Army flew a lot of this to Al Asad for us for Iraq construction jobs. One of the pieces of equipment was a Caterpillar front end loader. I remember that our camp manager really needed it. Well it was still in mint condition. They never used it. The company lost thousands of dollars in rental fees on the front end loader and the crane. I was at TQ for two months and then headed back to Kuwait. I was there for a bit. But all good things come to an end. The company was reorganizing and sending all of the Americans home from their Iraq construction jobs. I am back home with my family working on the famous “honey do” list and updating the web site. And I am now searching for a job. I still may go to Afghanistan with a new company. I am in the process of filling out all of the paperwork for this position. I have to get a physical, dental exam, drug test, security clearance and I have filled out a ton of paper work. The last company I was with I filled out one sheet of paper--the contract.

My daughter would like for me to stay home this time. But she also wants a car and money for college. My son has written a couple of songs he would like to record professionally and see what happens. I guess we will have to decide what is more important. ***Important Update***I did accept the job in Afghanistan and went to Kabul in November of 2007. I worked there until December of 2008. I have a lot to write and will be updating the website as time allows. I have already added a page on shipping Christmas packages to Iraq.
