Iraq Bases Water

Iraq bases water for drinking is usually in the form of battle water for a reason. Clean water sources are almost non-existent in Iraq and much of it polluted. Most of it comes from the country's rivers and they are polluted.

Your base will have water that is drawn from the ground and run through a ROWPU, which is a water purification unit. Some claim you can drink the water in Iraq without any type of treatment. Maybe you can and some do. I advise you not to. I choose not to drink it. The water tank truck or your water tank could be contaminated so do not drink the water from your faucet.

Drink the bottled water. It is safe to drink. Our base has its own bottled water plant. The opening of this plant has helped decrease the amount of money and time that the military has spent in bringing in water to the base from other countries.

Be sure to drink plenty of water on Iraq bases, bottled only, of course. I am a soda man myself but I am slowly getting accustomed to grabbing a bottle of water instead of a soda.

In the summertime especially, it is so important to drink lots of water. Sometimes as many as two to three large bottles a day. You will sweat it out. Just getting out of bed works up a sweat when the temperature soars past 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

The heat really gets bad and the water in water tanks gets heated to a ridiculously hot temperature. Too hot to shower with. During the summer, there is no need for a hot water heater to be on. That is how hot the water gets. Usually, I unplug the water heater during the summer months and use it as a cool water source.

This precious liquid is scarce, not only due to pollution, but also because of dams built on the Euphrates River in Turkey. The Euphrates flows from Turkey, through Syria, and into Iraq.
