Causes Of War With Iraq

Causes of war with Iraq are controversial, not only in America, but around the world. President Bush calls it the war on terror and, indeed, it is a war on terror.

It all started recently with 9/11. September 11, 2001 is the day that Al Qaeda terrorists took over American flights and crashed the planes into two of the World Trade Center Towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania (this plane was meant for the White House).

Causes of war with Iraq include intelligence reports saying Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. They may exist and be hidden under all of that sand or they could have been moved out of the country.

Saddam was committing brutal acts on his own people. Rapes and mass murders were common. Mass graves of his victims have been uncovered and reported on the evening newscasts over and over again. The Iraqi people were forced to submit to Saddam but they hated him. So much indeed that they sentenced him to death by hanging once he had been caught and given an Iraqi trial.

Causes of war with Iraq also include protecting Osama bin Laden, who masterminded 9/11, along with other things Saddam did in the past.

Back in the 1990's, Saddam tried to build nuclear weapons. He said that he would destroy Israel. And, last but not least, he invaded Kuwait in 1990, which prompted the United States to go over and stop him.

The first President Bush should have finished the job in 1991, instead of stopping like he did....

More Causes Of War With Iraq

What other causes of war with Iraq are there?

Greed is one of the causes of war with Iraq--Saddam Hussein was sitting on one of the largest deposits of oil in the world. He had billions and billions of dollars in revenue. He had palaces, women and cars, everything a person could possibly want but he had no heart.

He thought of himself and himself only--he gave no thought to the dire plight of his people--he made them live in extreme poverty because he chose to use the money for himself and to build a military--a military not for defense but for offense--instead of using his wealth to help his people, he told them, "Here, let's attack Kuwait and plunder it--as my commanders, you and your men can take all the plunder you want, kill anyone you want, rape any woman you want"--so they did.

Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and others called on the United States for help--for they had no defense to speak of. At the request of these countries, the United States went to help. And when it was over, the host countries asked the United States to stay. Well, one person in particular, Osama bin Laden, did not want the infidels in his country of Saudi Arabia. It was okay for the United States to come and protect his country from Saddam but he wanted them to leave when it was over. So we think.

What if Saddam and bin Laden were actually in cahoots? Maybe Kuwait was a test--to see how far the United States would go to rescue it from the oppression Saddam was bringing upon it. And if the United States did not respond, then Saudi Arabia was next. We could get into all sorts of scenarios of causes of war with Iraq here.

Realizing his plans were all shot to pieces, bin Laden, filled with hate, decided upon a second course--A direct attack on the soil of America. But first he considered himself to be a prophet of Mohammed. He needed a country to rule so he looked about and decided that Afghanistan would be that country. He helped them get rid of the Russians. With the Russians gone, he used his Taliban to take over Afghanistan. Then he worked out his attack against the United States.

He pulled off his attack. It worked better than he could have imagined. But he thought the Americans would realize how powerful he was and would cower and not attack. Well, he figured wrong. Bin Laden is definitely one of the causes of war with with Iraq. America did attack. Americans are still on the soil that he considers as the holy ground of allah. Americans were concerned that Saddam was building weapons of mass destruction, and decided to remove him from power.

Americans were behind the war because of the concern about WMD's. But these were not found. So it is questioned whether America should have attacked Iraq to begin with. Potential WMD's are causes of war with Iraq.

Most feel we should not be there because the WMD's have not been found. Just because we have not found them does not mean they do not exist.

Because of the danger, the search did not go on as long as it should have.

The search was only done on previously known sites. They did not look at any new sites. This is according to the ISG, the Iraq Survey Group not to be confused with the ISG, Iraq Study Group which came up with suggestions on what do to with Iraq. There were only a few searchers who were constantly under attack, so they could not really search very well. And on the last attack they lost several people so they quit and called off the searching after only about fourteen to sixteen months.

Now Chandra Levy went missing and it took about twelve months to find her. Massive amounts of manpower, not under attack, looked for her and did not find her. They even had an idea where she might have gone that day. But they could not find her. Finally a dog poking its nose in the wrong place found her body.

Let’s look at another story about the lost hikers on Mount Hood in December of 2006. These guys wanted to be found. Manpower and technology were used to locate them. They never did. And I have not been able to find any followup stories that suggest they have been found.

Now these two places, Rock Creek Park and Mount Hood are microscopic when compared to Iraq’s land mass. The WMD's could be buried in Iraq somewhere and we may never find them. And if we do, it will be by accident.

So WMD's are not found and everyone thinks we are bad now. President Bush has few friends who believe in him. I do. He did the right thing. We may not realize this for years to come, but one day we will and he will get the honor he deserves.

Many of the things said about Bush were said about President Lincoln. He was one of the most hated people in his time--In his presidency over 500,000 people died just from the battles themselves--this does not count those who died from starvation, criminals and a host of other things brought on by the war.

So we have three big causes of war with Iraq. They are greed to start with, then hate, then fear. If Saddam had never attacked Kuwait, then chances are the Iraq war would never have happened.

Or we could even go with this conspiracy theory: Business was slow for the defense contractors of America. So they got together and formed a conglomerate and asked and helped bin Laden pull off the attacks on 9-11 knowing that this would plunge the nation into a war--a different kind of war since they knew that bin Laden would continue to fight no matter what--so once again greed caused the war. I want you to know that I do not support this conspirace theory at all!
